While it is generally best to use new metals when creating your design, we are also able to reuse metal from jewelry you have and re-create it into new and exciting designs. For structural integrity, we can use up to 50% of your metal in a new piece. You can also create your design to include your own diamonds and gemstones. This allows you to retain the sentimental value of the jewelry you are recycling.

Most custom designs can be completed within three to four weeks. There are no shortcuts to quality. We highly recommend starting very early for any custom designs desired for a specific event or occasion.

The process of creating a custom engagement ring starts with the design concept. At J.F. Kruse, the first step is to sit down with you to understand your vision for the ring or, if you don’t have an initial idea in mind, help you visualize your options and select elements that your spouse-to-be-will love. Our non-commissioned artisans and designers will listen to you, make suggestions, and work closely with you to develop ideas.

From there, we’ll bring your design ideas to life through hand-drawn sketches and/or real-time 3D technology. Your input and feedback will be the focus as our expert staff guide you in creating a piece that is all entirely your own. Need to make changes? We’re happy to help make every detail absolutely perfect! We can rework any element of the design if something isn’t quite right. After you approve the visual image of your design, our artisans will create a 3D wax model that you can hold, feel and even try on. The wax model allows you to have another visual of what your finished design will look and feel like. It’s all becoming real!

Once any final adjustments are made to the wax model, your custom piece is handed off to our goldsmith and diamond setters. Your selected precious metal will be poured into the mold of your piece to create a casting of your design. Then, each hand-selected diamond and gemstone will be added to your setting by hand, which is then polished to perfection.
